Why do I do what I do?

I love what I do. Period.

The idea of offering theme music came soon after composing my own song for my podcast, Feminine Hijinx.

I wanted it to really stand out with a very specific theme, so I decided to write it myself.

I soon realized there must be a lot of podcasts needing their own personal theme song—and it was a heck of a lot of fun!--so Mod Pod Music was born.

Working with Garageband on a Mac, I play around with sounds until something works. I arrange tracks and loops provided and I also write my own. Most of my songs are just under or over a minute in length, as this is all that’s needed to fade into and then out of a podcast. I have also written longer versions as constant backgrounds that fade in and out behind the commentary, such as an infomercial.

As well as writing the music, I have also done voiceover work, both commentary and vocal. This is a great way to make your podcast sound extra professional, having a voice other than your own introduce you. Adding a vocal track with lyrics that pertain to your show is also a great way to make your podcast unique, as what I did with mine. If either or both of these options are something you would like to explore, let me know and we’ll talk!

Music has always been a part of my life. I've been playing and performing music in some shape or form since kindergarten—piano lessons, violin lessons, singing in various choirs and musicals and eventually fronting my own bands. Although I am a rock and roll/Metal Mommy at heart, I enjoy exploring and writing many genres of music.

Thanks so much for visiting my site. I hope you like what you hear! Feedback is always welcome. Rock on!
